“It would be so nice if something made sense for a change.”
A couple months ago Sarah and I were discussing the challenges of transitioning from the awkward years of being the girl-with-a-decently-large-camera, to gaining and combining the needed skills and vision to become an established business. (Like the endless uncertainties of what to charge and who to shoot and how on earth to be taken seriously.)
After What If-ing a while we realized that while we do (and always will) have much to learn, our experiences, training, and love of teaching could be used for something tremendous.
Cue the idea:

( !!!!! )
I can’t tell you how thrilled I am for this.
We’re renting a small mansion just outside Washington, DC to host 8-10 girls for a week like few others. And since growing a business isn’t something you complete in a week, we’re including continued mentoring with each of the attendees for a year.
That’s kind of a big deal.
We’ve already had so much interest in this venture and I can’t wait to see what comes of it!
We’ll have a website up soon with more information, but in the meantime send any questions to hello@thejourneyevent.com. And please please please pass this on to anyone you can think of!
(Much love to Jen Olmstead for so beautifully translating our eclectic Alice in Wonderland concept to the invitation! Only appropriate that she designed this in her sleep?)
“Be what you would seem to be — or, if you’d like it put more simply — Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise.”
