michelle + dan | wedding!

Ohh this was all sorts of storybook beautiful.

Dan and Michelle are kind genuine souls, blessed to be truly madly deeply in love with each other. I remember our first meeting last year and how well we clicked, I think I even tweeted something about how happy it is to be hired by your favorite kind of clients.

After searching all over, they ended up having the ceremony and reception at their own church, and I was so impressed with how much they did to make the space their own. He’s a librarian / painter and she’s a graphic designer, so it wasn’t surprising that their details were delicately smothered in creativity.

She arranged each table as a nostalgic shadowbox of it’s own, with eclectic vintage finds (like the sweet mini sewing machine!) mixed with antique wedding photos of her relatives.

They even found a Victrola!

Meet Dan. He’s kind and clever with a touch of heavy-metal awesome.

They’d found a picture from a great-great-somebody’s wedding, where the groomsmen were standing like such with their jackets backwards, and wanted to duplicate it. Fun to imagine folks in the 30s having such a trendy sense of humor.

Michelle had her dress custom-made and I loved getting to see her sketches and ideas woven into a gown so perfectly her.

And then my favorite part of the day.

Because of timing we pushed their portraits till after the reception, and got to spend the sun-setting light at the park where he first proposed. (!!!)

He played the song he’d written for the night of the proposal, it was magic.

Red Winter Productions composed the music for this slideshow and I think it perfectly matches the wedding’s music box / nostalgic feeling. Making these entirely customized shows is a new idea we’re trying out so I’d love to know what you think.

I love a good just-because.

An unexpected package in the mail, the above-and-beyond kindnesses or any spontaneous (and often illogical) touch of joy to a life.

I hate so many of my stellar friends living states away, but going to visit is a fun adventure of it’s own….especially when it’s a just-because trip, and most especially when it’s to Nashville!

Plans were made and lived and it was beautiful. Granted being anywhere that first real week of spring would be joy enough, but surrounded by new friends, excellent coffee and the creative culture of the city made for some serious good times.

I’ve known Dale for well, a while. He’s the brilliant musical genius behind Red Winter Productions, wrote the music on my website and also now offers custom pieces for brides to use on their wedding day! (be sure to check out his music! – after you look at the pictures) He and Sarah met on a missions trip in New Orleans, and the rest is pretty interesting history. I hope I never tired of hearing a couple’s story that is so clearly blessed and arranged by a faithful and loving Savior. And Sarah? You can’t help but love her. (…even at ridiculously too early in the morning.) I’m sure she often finds something special in as many as 6 ordinary things before breakfast.

We were at a park one sun-loving afternoon and decided to have a photo shoot, just because. And they may or may not have gotten ENGAGED since my visit, so consider these the fastest engagement pictures a couple has ever had : )

Meet the Moes : )

Carrie and Torrey are the perfect example of why I adore photographing married couples.
They’ve been married 4.5 years and their joyous love could not be more brightly evident.

Carrie’s the owner of Fleurish Events, (as designer, coordinator AND florist!) and I’m
always impressed and in love with every wedding we get to work together.

Being so involved with weddings she had an excellent vision of what they wanted and came prepared with the best
props and ideas you could hope for. We did this shoot last autumn around Old Town Leesburg and then near (and in!) the Potomac River.

I tried to narrow down the shots more but had too many favorites. Enjoy!
